Awards Abound for FM Business Community
May 28th, 2010 by chamberTake a peek at the cover of the June issue of The Bridge which features your fellow members who took home ChamberChoice Awards at our luncheon in May. Those of you who were there will know what I mean when I say it was truly an inspiring experience to hear from the leaders of these great organizations. Our keynote speaker Coach Don Meyer received a standing ovation before he even spoke and it just got better from there.
Your Chamber also took the opportunity to be more involved with the Innovate ND entrepreneurial competition this year. The program is an impressive display of the innovation and hard work that are alive and well in our region. Five award winners received $10,000 toward their business idea and one received a year of retail space in downtown Fargo.
It is companies and organizations like these that have kept the Fargo Moorhead economy strong through a very trying time. While the rest of the country struggles, Fargo Moorhead is among the few metros that continued to experience positive economic activity and has shown some of the earliest signs of true recovery. Housing starts are again breaking records, we’re on Forbes top 10 of 2010 Best Places for Business and Careers, and our members tell us they are getting back to the business of growing jobs and hiring.
Our region is one that nurtures its entrepreneurs and supports its established business. Our goal as your Chamber is to personify the strength and innovation of this business community. We exist to maintain and improve the environment in which you do business and to ensure our region is poised for even more growth. Thank you for supporting us in that effort through your membership.
I hope you’ll consider joining us on June 22 for a discussion on the impact of health care reform. Our panel will include experts from all corners of the health care industry and a representative of the U.S. Chamber to help us understand how recent legislation will impact individuals and businesses small and large. The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act will affect your business. If you have specific questions you’d like to suggest for our panel discussion, drop us a line at TheBridge@fmchamber.com.
Thank you for your membership,
Craig Whitney
