Workforce Needs of the Agricultural Industry
July 27th, 2012 by Jessica LeeAs the driving force of our regional economy, agriculture is big business- with unique workforce needs.
The Chamber encourages you to participate in an important “Workforce Assessment” initiative to address the state’s growing skills gap in the Agricultural/Agribusiness industry on Tuesday, August 14 from 9- 10:30 a.m. at Titan Equipment, I-94 and Co. Rd. 11 in Moorhead, MN.
The Workforce Assessments will engage employers in developing precise projections for how many workers and professionals, with what kinds of skills, will be needed in our area, for what kinds of jobs.
The listening sessions throughout the state are planned with Minnesota employers to gain a better understanding of their current and future workforce needs in the following areas:
• Farm Business Operation and Management (including agribusiness) • Agricultural Mechanics and Equipment • Animal Science • Plant and Soil Science • Food Science and Technology
The data gathered will be used by Minnesota State Colleges and Universities to align their certificates and degrees, worker retraining and customized training programs with the needs of Minnesota’s businesses, industries and communities.
There is no cost to attend the meeting but advanced registration is required.
