Travel in and around the Fargo Moorhead West Fargo metro is easy and convenient. Whether by plane, train, automobile or something else, you’ll find a range of travel options available. And with easy access to two major interstates – I-29 and I-94 – plus short commute times and easy city layout, navigating the area is a breeze.

Local Bus Service

The area’s major public bus system MATBUS operates 25 fixed routes in Fargo, Moorhead, West Fargo and Dilworth. With service Monday through Saturday, each bus features a bike rack and onboard audio and visual location announcements to help passengers clearly identify upcoming stops. The vehicle fleet consists of 43 large fixed-route buses and 15 lift-equipped vehicles for paratransit service.

New in 2015, MATBUS launched a new fast and free downtown circulator route connecting the communities of Fargo and Moorhead. Called LinkFM, this service features a continuous loop that begins and ends at the Moorhead Center Mall. With 10 designated stops, the bus arrives at each location every 12 to 15 minutes and is free to transfer to other MATBUS routes.

Passenger & Charter Bus Service

For bus service outside the metro, Jefferson Lines offers scheduled bus service to 13 states across America’s heartland. And through partnerships with other bus companies, they can connect riders to thousands of destinations across the U.S., Canada and Mexico.
 

Taxicab & Limo Service

Whether you need a quick ride, safe transport for a night on the town or a group outing, the FMWF region offers several different taxicab and limousine services, including Doyle's Yellow Checker Cab, All Occasions Limousines and Fargo Party Ride, not to mention Uber.
 

Special Transportation Services

The metro provides several special transportation services to those with disabilities or over the age of 60. Some of these include Jefferson Lines, CareAVan, Handi-Wheels, Metro Senior Ride and MAT Paratransit.
 

Trucking

Since Fargo Moorhead West Fargo is located at the crossroads of two major interstates, it allows for easy access across the United States. The area supports approximately 130 trucking companies and brokers and more than 25 terminals. It is estimated that more than 200,000 trucks go through the area each year and has a significant impact on our local economy.

Railroads

BNSF Railway Company serves as one of the largest railroad networks in North America and has a significant impact in meeting the needs of shippers and serving the area’s economy. Amtrak provides passenger rail service East and West from its downtown Fargo depot station.
 

Hector International Airport

The area’s major airline service is Hector International Airport, located conveniently off I-29 in north Fargo near North Dakota State University. It currently houses four airlines – Allegiant, American Airlines, Delta and United – with non-stop service to 10 cities: Las Vegas, Orlando, Phoenix-Mesa, Los Angeles, Tampa/St. Petersburg, Chicago, Dallas, Minneapolis, Atlanta, Chicago and Denver (some only seasonally). Seven car rental companies can also be found on-site.
 

Fargo Jet Center

Fargo Jet Center, located on the north side of Hector International Airport, operates North Dakota’s largest fleet of charter aircraft, provides aircraft management services and is an aircraft dealer. It even operates a flight school and an award-winning aircraft maintenance and avionics repair station.
 

U.S. Customs Port of Entry

Located at Hector International Airport, the U.S. Customs Port of Entry provides 24-hour customs clearance services to companies throughout the area. International shipments are bonded directly to Fargo Moorhead and cleared by customs in a manner much more efficient than what is found at larger ports.
