Historical & Cultural Society of Clay County The Historical and Cultural Society operates the museum and archive in the Hjemkomst Center in Moorhead. The society was organized in 1932 to collect, preserve and make available knowledge of the history of Clay County, Minnesota. HCSCC preserves a collection of over 30,000 historic artifacts, including three historic properties in Clay County. HCSCC also manages and interprets the Hjemkomst Viking Ship replica and the Hopperstad Stave Church replica for the City of Moorhead.

Log Cabin Folk Art Center The log cabin was built in 1859 along the Red River and served as a stagecoach stop on the Minnesota State Company's route. In 1878 Charles Whitcom bought the cabin and moved it to the 10th Street North in Moorhead. In 1933 former Parks Director Adolph Bowman and the Moorhead Garden Club moved the cabin to its 2nd Street location.. In 1999, local artists, Gloria Weisgram, Gary Paulsen and the City of Moorhead began to use it as a folk art center. The cabin currently resides in Memorial Park.
