As we approach the Nov. 5 Election, we understand the critical nature and civic responsibility each of us has to get out and vote. There are three key measures on the ballot that have the potential to significantly impact the business environment across the region:

North Dakota Measure 4, also known as the property tax measure

City of Fargo Measure 2, a lodging tax to support a Convention Center

City of Fargo Measure 1, a sales tax to support a FARGODOME expansion

Keep It Local (North Dakota Measure 4) – Vote NO

The Chamber opposes North Dakota Measure 4.

Measure 4 threatens local services by limiting property tax funding, which supports schools, police, fire and infrastructure. A "NO" vote ensures that decisions about budget priorities remain with local leaders, who understand the community’s needs. With no viable replacement for $3.15 billion in lost revenues, the measure jeopardizes access to essential community services and leads to significant funding gaps at the local and state level. The economic prosperity and vitality of our state hinges on maintaining local control and rejecting Measure 4.

Convention Center (City of Fargo Measure 2) – Vote YES

The Chamber supports City of Fargo Measure 2.

The Fargo-Moorhead-West Fargo community needs a facility large enough to host significant conventions. A convention center could bring valuable business to our community. A new convention center funded primarily by a lodging tax would help bring events to Fargo, boosting local businesses. With the funding source for this project being lodging tax, the primary financial burden falls on visitors rather than residents. Comparable cities like Rochester, MN and Madison, WI have seen substantial economic benefits from similar investments. A "YES" vote on the Convention Center means more events and increased revenue for local businesses, enhancing Fargo’s position as a top destination.

FARGODOME Fit-Up (City of Fargo Measure 1) – Vote YES

The Chamber supports City of Fargo Measure 1.

The FARGODOME has been a longstanding cornerstone for the community, hosting millions of visitors over the span of 30 years. To maintain its status as a premier venue, updates and upgrades are critical. The renovation plan includes modernizing amenities, replacing the seats, and increasing restroom and concession facilities, which will all enhance patron experience. Funding will come from a quarter-cent sales tax, building on the successful original model without affecting property taxes or the city budget. A “YES” vote will extend the FARGODOME's lifespan, attract more events and strengthen Fargo’s vibrancy.

Make your voice heard

These measures will determine the future of Fargo’s community services, economic development and infrastructure.

Vote NO on Measure 4 to protect our ability to make local decisions and ensure funding for critical services like schools, public safety and road maintenance. 

Vote YES on Measures 1 and 2 to invest in Fargo’s growth, expanding our capacity to attract events, and enhance the quality of life for all residents.
