Understanding how to support veterans in the workplace is vital to the success of both businesses and communities. For many veterans, the transition from military to civilian employment can be filled with uncertainty, misalignment and unspoken barriers. As employers and community leaders, we have the chance to make that change easier.

The Chamber is launching a virtual series, Discuss, Connect, Reflect: Supporting and Engaging Veterans in the Workforce – a free, 60-minute virtual lunch and learn to equip you with resources to better serve and retain Veteran talent.

WHY YOU SHOULD LEARN HOW TO SUPPORT VETERANS IN THE WORKPLACE

Veterans bring discipline, resilience, leadership and a mission-first mindset to every team. Yet, many face real barriers when it comes to employment and long-term career success. Understanding how to support veterans in the workplace means acknowledging those obstacles.

Some common challenges veterans experience include:

  • Adjusting to less structured workplaces.
  • Translating military roles into civilian job descriptions.
  • Finding a renewed sense of purpose post-service.
  • Navigating differences in age or experience with colleagues.

This session will provide:

  • A deeper understanding of workforce barriers.
  • Strategies to create inclusive, veteran-ready environments.
  • Access to resources for recruiting and retaining veteran talent.
  • A chance to hear from experts who work directly with veterans.
